Signature Drinks
Any special signature drinks you guys have come up with (or just really like)?

I came up with the Fiesta Mocha some time last year - it's only for the brave.

Think regular mocha, with a little bit of Mexican Vanilla (which has a hint of cinnamon) and then a little chili powder (don't knock it til you try it!) pulled WITH the espresso as part of the shot. Of course, this can be topped with whipped cream, mocha drizzle and a tiny sprinkly of the chili powder.

It's pretty good - not my best creation but definitely my most original.

I don't have anything that original, but I used to be a huge fan of mint mochas using creme de menthe torani syrup instead of peppermint. The flavor was totally different than peppermint, it's a much less 'harsh' mint. I used to also make what I called Cafe Miel(not sure if that's a real drink name, but it miel means honey in french). I'd put a bit of honey on the bottom of the cup or mug, then pour the shot directly into the honey, followed by the steamed milk/foam. The honey melted with the espresso shot and it was heavenly. :)

Go for it! I made it for customers before and they all loved it. It's sweet, but not too sweet, and the honey and espresso give it a nice, rich flavor. :)

Sans foam that drink is colloquially known as 'Honey for bear', but I can't remember why.

Oh interesting. I love me some foam, so that's why I did it that way. :) I didn't know it was called anything, I was just fooling around at work one day and wanted some honey(i'm allergic so I can't have it often :P).

I've never actually tried it, but someone at the last regional barista competition I went to had it as their specialty drink. They gave a backstory about the name and the original barista to use it as a specialty drink...I don't remember much other than the original barista won with the beverage. Must be delicious....I think I'll go make one now...only with foam, your version. I love me some foam, too!

Only if it's good foam though! I'm always scared to order foamy drinks at coffee shops I haven't been to. Apparently foam is difficult for some baristas, especially ones at like Starbucks. :(

Yeah, I've noticed! It makes me sad, as a good ol' soy cappuccino is my all time favorite comfy drink. I actually just went to a cafe and ordered your cafe miel, the espresso was decent but left a bit to be desired, and the foam was BIG BUBBLES...not to mention it was mostly milk, and steamed way too hot. I'm going to have to make it myself at work tomorrow.

Oh, I have a pet peeve about milk steamed too hot. Ugh. After a bit it starts tasting burnt and yucky! :(

Make it for yourself, you'll appreciate it a lot more when the espresso is perfect and the milk is just right. :)

I just got to work, I'm going to start my day with it! How much honey do you use, roughly?

It really depends on how sweet you like a drink. I use enough to coat the bottom of the mug, probably the equivilent of 2 pumps of syrup in volume, for a 16oz drink.

I did a little less than that, it was quite good!

Glad you enjoyed. :D

A soy latte with a capful of Cortas brand pure rose water, and a cap full of vanilla syrup or half a packet of sugar in the raw. The drink was between 10-12 ounces (12 ounce was better). I know rose and espresso sounds kind of horrid, but when it's cut with the sweetener it makes quite an exotic drink :)
